ATTENTION: PAID SURVEYS ARE A SCAM

Ok I’m not really sure how this online survey stuff got so big. Everywhere you look online now it seems that you see ads for the latest online survey program that promises huge rewards.. Well I’m here to let you in on a few secrets.

1. First off, everyone has an opinion. If you think yours is that much more valuable than anybody elses you are probably mistaken. Companies have no reason to pay huge amounts of money for people to take surveys because there’s always somebody out there with an opinion that is just as valuable that’ll do it for less money.
2. The rewards promised are always a lot higher than what you actually get. If you sit down and do the math after everything is said and done, I’m sure you’ll find that the amount of money or products you received for taking the surveys was far less than you would’ve earned with even a minimum wage job.
3. They don’t help you build passive income. If you stop taking surveys today you’ll never get any more money. This means all the time you spent doing it was as much of a waste of time as working a day job with crappy pay (except maybe you could do it sitting on your computer in your underwear, which most employers frown upon for some reason).
4. The only people making money with online surveys are the people selling you the lists and false hope that you can make any kind of living doing it!

So please, PLEASE save yourself the time and money and start trying to make money online the right way, PASSIVELY. I don’t need to take surveys in my sleep to make money while I’m snoozing. You shouldn’t either.

Bill Gates just announced that he’ll leave his full time job at the company in 2 years to focus on his charity (the bill & melinda gates foundation). This is big news. July 2008 is a long way off, but it will be interesting to see what happens to the company without him. Other people are stepping up to fill the gaps he’ll leave.

Using Google Analytics on a few of my sites I was able to find out how many people are bouncing from my site. “Bouncing” in case you don’t know, is the term for when someone comes to your page and hits the back button without visiting any other content on your site. Usually this is a fairly large number that would shock most people. I believe the average is somewhere between 20-60%. On one of my sites this number was HUGE. Normally once someone hits the back button they are lost and you’ll never make a cent from them. This is very unfortunate, especially if you got them to your site via a PPC ad. I found a new service which can help you monetize these visitors. StopBounce uses a script you install on your entry pages that you want to harness the bounced visitors. When they leave your site quickly without doing anything else an advertisement is displayed and you make some money. They give you the flexibility to choose which traffic sources will trigger the ads, and also feature channels similar to google adsense.

Some people are dead set against ads like this, but keep in mind that normal visitors (the ones you really care about) would never see these ads. I think this service is a great idea and can help squeeze a little more money out of your site.

Am I the only one that is sick and tired of the Internet Marketing gurus and their multi-hundred dollar products? All they’re selling is marketing. Every one of their product that says something to the tune of “learn how this broke loser made $92,046 living in the basement in 3 months”… and the way that person made money is by creating some kind of internet marketing product. Then they create another internet marketing product that explains how they made the first one, and sell it for $200. WTF? If I wanted to sell Marketing that’s what I’d be doing. I don’t want to sell things to webmasters. Give us something real that normal people can use.
