SEO Tip of the Day: Keep an Open Mind

Ok this this isn’t really an SEO tip.. more of a business tip. Keep an open mind. Don’t be afraid of contradicting yourself or changing your mind. A few weeks back I decided that I wasn’t going to finish my new SEO guide.. well I changed my mind back and decided to do it. After getting fed up with all the “marketing gurus” and their products that sell nothing but hype I decided that a real product that real people could use to get started making money online and achieve real goals was in order. I will be busy writing for the next several days and probably revising and editing for quite some time after that. I am also accepting a few people to get a free sneak peek at this product before anyone else.

“The world doesn’t need another e-book about how to make money online.. what makes this one different?” Well, many of the things I’m covering I have not seen in other books. I also don’t fill my pages with money making methods that I am not willing to do myself. This is truely aimed at people who have not tried to make money online before. The target audience is people familiar with the Internet. They may have even had their own web site at one time. Unlike most of the others I don’t promise people that they can make $50,000 in 2 months. I give honest advice about what it takes to be successful building web sites. This might not be an effective marketing strategy, but I don’t care. I am also not setting out to insult anybody by being a Jerk and calling them losers for being poor, unlike one ebook I’ve seen out there.

So, stay tuned for more information about The Wealthy Webmaster’s Guide to Making Money Online and Search Engine Optimization. ::cue dramatic music:: This is going to be big!

SEO Tip of the Day: No Secret Sauce!

I just had a huge thought and felt the need to share it before I explode.

WHAT IF THERE IS NO SECRET SAUCE TO MAKING MONEY ONLINE?

After you’ve done a certain amount of learning it seems that you know what needs to be done to make your web sites succeed. Build content and get relevant links to your site. That is pretty much what it boils down to. The ways to do that are just details, which can be found in all kinds of public places. Blogs, forums, and other documents on the web are already jam packed with the things you need to know to make money online.

Or maybe the secret sauce is actually sweat?

SEO Tip of the Day: Lose the Tables

Tables have long been abused and used to create the way a page is viewed. Typically this means that your navigation menu on the side of your page appears to be the first content to a search engine spider.

Your main body text may end up so far down the page that GoogleBot thinks many of your pages are the same, which is no good. With the div tag and CSS you can actually make it so the menu on your page is AFTER the main body of content in the html, which will dramatically help each of your pages appear to be different (they ARE actually different, right?)

  • Another benefit of replacing your tables with div’s is that your CSS file only has to be loaded once, so it saves you bandwidth because each individual page is smaller.
  • I’ve also heard that your pages will render faster since your browser doesn’t have to wait for the entire table to download before it can start drawing.
  • Easy layout changes. With CSS you can move stuff around, change the size, color, whatever without having to mess with your html.

Moving away from tables can take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it you won’t go back!

SEO Tip of the Day

Add more content to your site every day!

So for me, this little tip not only helps you, but it helps this site as well by planting little seeds of keywords throughought my site.. so some time in the future when someone searches Google for “little seeds of keywords” they’ll end up here! There are a few good things about this:

  1. More keywords for people to find. The chances of you ranking well in search engines for a popular keyword aren’t very good. If your site has lots of relevent content to what the users are searching for they could very well end up on your site. For example: You might not have a chance of ranking well for “star wars toys”, but if your site has lots of content related to that topic you might get people searching for “empire strikes back darth vader action figure” or something similar. A main keyword that gets a lot of searches is a good indication that other related queries will probably also be popular. Most of my traffic comes from people searching for random items that happen to be for sale on my sites rather than popular keywords.
  2. PageRank potential increase. If your site is setup with an optimized linking structure you increase the potential pagerank of your entire site when you add additional content. This item will be debated by many I’m sure. If you do it wrong you can lower your pagerank, so you should figure out how to set it up correctly before setting out.
  3. Keep them coming back for more. Search engines love new content. The more often your site is updaded the more often the spiders will come to visit. The same thing goes for humans. People will come back every day if you offer something unique, interesting and new every time they show up. If you went to a site that hasn’t changed in 2 years, how likely are you to return?

Content is king, so stop being a joker and get writing (or hire someone to do it for you)!

Mesothelioma Lawyers still making big money

Mesothelioma Lawsuits still big business

If you look at some charts of the highest paying keywords out there is is always right up toward the top. The fact that webmasters can be making dozens of dollars PER CLICK on these types of ads gives you just a glimpse at the absurd amounts of money Lawyers are spending on these ads. If they can afford to pay $50 every time someone clicks their ad, and they only get a very small conversion rate, and only some of those result in a settlement… They’re making way too much damn money! Personally I think is is criminal the huge cuts out of people’s money the lawyers take when they win a case. If I was dying from “asbestos cancer” I’d be pissed off when my lawyer wanted 35% of the money. Greedy bastards. On the other hand I’d be happy to take the lawyers money for ad clicks.
